WITS On The Feiring Line

Monday, July 28th, 2008

With Kaz fishing in Loreto Bay, Randy stuffs in some interviews today, one from mid-June with Alice Feiring talking of her book, her LA Times article, and her upcoming keynote at the Wine Bloggers Conference in October. The other is a set of interviews that Kaz and Randy did at the Wine Industry Technology Symposium in Napa in mid-July. It’s a mid-month mid-tacular!

A New Paradigm!

Monday, July 21st, 2008

Wine Biz Radio launches its first (and almost certainly not its last) pre-recorded-but-still-interactive shows, leveraging the puzzling but versatile Talkshoe platform. Listen up as Kaz and Randy enjoy a slow start, but then join in lively conversation from across “The Pond” with Robert McIntosh of The Wine Conversation and Thirst for Rioja (in the UK). They discuss the European Wine Bloggers Conference coming this August, and his work promoting Rioja wines in his country.

It’s a brave new world for Wine Biz Radio, enjoy!

547 Twisted Oak Domaines

Monday, July 14th, 2008

(Thanks to Sonadora of Wannabe Wino for the title!)

Kaz and Randy do musical microphones as they invite Jeff “El Jefe” Stai of Twisted Oak Winery and Jill “Budo Kun’s Keeper” Bernheimer of Domaine547.com into the studio for a fine chat. Agent Red calls in to promote their latest deal, and Brad Cooper tries desperately to phone in via Skype. Listener questions coming in via Twitter are welcome as always, and the answers are free (so you get what you pay for!) Listen up, friends!

Quadruple Word Score! (WBW#47)

Friday, July 11th, 2008

Better late than never!

This month’s theme is “Brought to you by the letter ‘S’,” (thanks to Grape Juice for hosting this month’s WBW) and Kaz and Randy don’t disappoint! Follow along as they taste their way through a 2003 St. Francis Sonoma County Syrah. They both give it high marks, and figure they found four S’s in the wine, hence “quadruple word score”! All that, and they only go off on a few tangents!

Chicago, My Kinda Town

We’ve Got “Kufflotkees”(sp?)

Tuesday, July 1st, 2008

Kaz coins (or rather, ‘koins’) a new word for web links, and Wine Biz Radio has it’s craziest and most interactive show ever, and Kaz and Randy get to talk to a lot of cool folks.

  1. A very nice lady calls in about the Salamander Festival [link] this August 24th in Santa Rosa.We’ll forgive them their web site skills;
  2. A very nice call from Domino Amjet [link] pimping the upcoming Wine Industry Technology Symposium (WITS) [link] July 14th and 15th in Napa;
  3. ChicagoPinot [link] (a wine blogger on the scene in Chicago, just getting started) calls in wondering if she should go to the Wine Bloggers Conference [link] this October 24-26 in Santa Rosa.
  4. A friendly call from William of Wine & Spirits Jobs.com [link], with a new feature: Wine Industry Job Listing Of The Week! Here’s the first one: [link]
  5. A friend of Kaz’s from Newport Beach calls in briefly with a weather report, and is quickly followed by:
  6. A nice fellow named John, who works at a repair shop in eastern Sonoma, but makes wine for himself on the side;
  7. And finally, Rick Bakas of Culination [link] calls in to see if he won a prize!

It’s a record for a one-hour call-in talk show in Sonoma! And it’s a top ten Wine Biz Radio episode!
