Kaz and Randy, with regrets from Paul Mabray and his wisdom teeth, invent a show from thin air. Where else can you see two people describe on the radio how the semi-finalist logo designs look for Wine Blogging Wednesday? How about a Zeppelin being flown from Sunnyvale to Napa for jet-setting wine lovers? Wanna hear Kaz’s take on global warming?

It’s a tidbits show, the guys haven’t had one of those in a long time. Listen up and enjoy!

The Netflix of Wine

Kaz and Randy invite Marshall Sontag and Brittany Dean of WineQ.com (some call it the “Netflix of Wine”) into the studio to talk up their service, and between the ADHD field-of-effect that Kaz creates with his very presence, they let their worst kept secret out: create-your-own wine club that you can invite your friends to join! Think “RSS of wine” and you start to understand.

Joel Vincent of OpenWine Consortium calls in to give props to WineQ as well as chat about the transition of his first blog/social site, Wine Life Today and the future of the OWC.

They also take a call from the Texas Wine and Grapegrowers Association about their upcoming Lone Star International Wine Competition.

That, and Brittany calls herself a “wine slut” on the air. If you’re Brittany’s parents, we’re deeply sorry.

The best hour of wine radio is back, enjoy!

Wine Biz Radio: WBW#45 - “Old World” Riesling

Kaz and Randy do it over the phone!? Yes, indeed, the first (and hopefully) only Wine Blogging Wednesday where Kaz and Randy taste the same wine at the same time, from two different locations.

This time, it’s “Old World” Riesling, and they’ve chosen a Schloss Vollrads 2003 Rheingau Kabinett that they picked up at Taylor and Norton’s in Sonoma. Kaz dedicates the tasting to his “Deutsch heritage”, and Randy also mentions (on the side) about the revolutionary (and French?) innovation called USB Wine.

Kaz and Randy are joined by Tom Wark (of Wark Communications and Fermentation: The Daily Wine Blog) to discuss the news of the day. They start with a call from Nick Frey of the Sonoma County Winegrape Commission to chat about the recent news of a “light infestation” of Light Brown Apple Moth in the Sonoma area.

The conversation goes hither and yon after that, including Wine 2.0, Tim Elliot’s social media seminars and what Kaz will (or won’t) do about joining the online wine community. And Tom hints at a major wine blogger event coming later this year to Sonoma County!

Listen and learn, friends, it’s Wine Biz Radio!

It’s “Guest-a-licious Monday” at Wine Biz Radio! Kaz and Randy host a triple-header of online wine guests, starting with Tim Elliot of Winecast, who talks about his blog and his seminars on getting wineries to use social media. Next is Rick Bakas of Culination talks about his new business of wine and recipes on your mobile device. Finally, we have Joe Hendricks of Winesmash in to talk about his show and what makes him tick.

Quite possibly the best Wine Biz Radio yet, have a listen!

Wine Biz Radio: April 21, 2008

After a well-deserved week off, Kaz and Randy are back at it, apparently the “dynamic duo” of wine “infotainment”! They speak of a great many things, including current Sonoma weather and Powdery Mildew concerns, current events coming to Sonoma County, and next week’s insanity. Tim Elliot of Winecast calls in to discuss his west coast “Wineries and Social Media” seminars next week. Kaz and Randy hit a nerve in the online wine community when they discuss Jeff Lefevere’s controversial Good Grape post, where he opines that OpenWine Consortium and Wine 2.0 should merge in 2008, prompting a call from Joel Vincent, majordomo of OWC.

This is quite possibly the most jam-packed hour of Wine Biz Radio yet!
